Prayer when one has a need
It is related from our master ʿUthmān ibn Ḥunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that a blind man came to the Prophet and said, “Pray to Allah the Exalted to heal me.” The Prophet
said, “If you wish, I will pray for you, and if you wish, I will defer that — and that is better.” The man replied, “Pray for me.” So the Prophet
told him to perform ablution and do it well, then to pray two units of prayer, and then to say this supplication:
O Allah, I ask You and turn to You by means of Your Prophet Muhammad
ﷺ,
the Prophet of mercy. O Muhammad, I turn by means of you to my Lord regarding this need of mine, so that it may be fulfilled for me. O Allah, accept his intercession for me.”
--- - Reported by Aḥmad in his Musnad, and a similar wording by at-Tirmidhī, an-Nasā’ī in as-Sunan al-Kubrā, and Ibn Mājah.
Another prayer when one has a need:
The Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever has a need from Allah, or from one of the children of Adam, should perform ablution and do it well, then pray two units of prayer. After that, let them praise Allah, send blessings upon the Prophet
ﷺ,
and then say:
--- - Reported by at-Tirmidhī and Ibn Mājah from our master ‘Abdullāh ibn Abī Awfā (may Allah be pleased with them).
