Adhkar before the Fajr prayer
INVOCATIONS (ADHKĀR) BEFORE FAJR (after the adhān but before the sunnah ṣalāh):
Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him. Glory be to Allah the Magnificent. I seek Allah’s forgiveness.
In every moment forever, to the number of His creation, the extent of His pleasure, the weight of His Throne, and the ink it would take to write His words.
Do not forget to pray the two-rakaats sunnah of Fajr, as they have immense reward.
SUPPLICATION AT FAJR (after the sunnah ṣalāh but before the Iqāmah):
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad and upon all his family and companions.
O Allah, I ask You for a mercy from You by which You guide my heart, bring my affairs together, mend what is scattered within me, restore what I’ve lost of closeness, set my religion right, watch over what lies beyond my sight, improve my outward life, purify my deeds, brighten my face, inspire me with guidance, and protect me from every evil.
O Allah, I ask You for enduring faith that permeates my heart and such true certainty that I know nothing will befall me except what You have decreed for me, and make me content with what You have allotted to me.
O Allah, grant me sincere faith and certainty after which there is no disbelief, and a mercy through which I attain the honor You bestow in this world and the Hereafter.
O Allah, I ask You for patience when Your decree comes to pass, success when I meet You, the ranks of the martyrs, the life of the truly happy, victory over enemies, and the companionship of the Prophets.
O Allah, I present my needs to You even though my judgment is weak and my deeds are deficient, for I am in need of Your mercy. So I ask You, O Ordainer of all affairs, O Healer of hearts, just as You grant safe passage between the seas, grant me safety from the punishment of the Blaze, the cry of destruction, and the trial of the grave.
O Allah, whatever good my judgment is too weak to grasp, my actions too deficient to attain, and my intention and longing did not arrive at — of the good You promised any of Your servants or any good You give to any of Your creation — I still long for it from You and ask You for it, O Lord of the worlds.
O Allah, make us guides who are rightly guided, neither straying nor leading others astray; at war with Your enemies and at peace with Your friends; loving people out of love for You and opposing, for Your sake, those of Your creation who defy You.
O Allah, this is the supplication and from You comes the response; this is the effort and upon You we rely. Truly to Allah we belong and to Him we return, and there is no power or might except through Allah, the High, the Magnificent.
O Allah, Possessor of the strong rope and the right way, I ask You for security on the Day of Threat and Paradise on the Day of Eternity, alongside those brought near, those who witness, those who bow and prostrate, those who fulfill their covenants. Truly You are Most Merciful, Most Loving, and You do whatever You will.
Exalted and utterly transcendent is the One who is robed in might and proclaimed it. Exalted and utterly transcendent is the One who is clothed in glory and honors by it. Exalted and utterly transcendent is the One to whom alone glorification is due. Exalted and utterly transcendent is the Possessor of bounty and favors. Exalted and utterly transcendent is the Possessor of power and generosity. Exalted and utterly transcendent is the Possessor of majesty and honor. Exalted and utterly transcendent is the One who has encompassed all things in His knowledge.
O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my grave, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light in my hair, light in my skin, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my bones, light in my nerves, light before me, light behind me, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, and light beneath me.
O Allah, increase me in light, grant me light, and make light for me.
And may Allah send blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.
Then say:
O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, there is no god but You.
O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, give life to our hearts, and set our deeds aright in both our religion and our worldly life.
