Dua after Sūrah al-Wāqi‛ah
O Allāh, preserve our dignity through ease, sufficiency, and gracious provision, and do not humble us through poverty and hardship—so that we would have to seek provision from those who themselves seek Your provision, or try to win the sympathy of the worst of Your creation, or become occupied with praising those who give us, and be tested by blaming those who withhold from us—while you are the true Causer behind all of that; the Owner of giving and withholding.
O Allāh! As You have protected our faces from prostrating to anyone but You, so protect us from needing anyone but You—by Your generosity, magnanimity and bounty.
O Most Merciful of all who show mercy. (3 times)
Enrich us with Your bounty so that we need no one besides You. And may Allah bestow blessings and peace upon our master Muḥammad, and upon his family and his companions.
O Allāh, bestow blessings and peace upon our master Muḥammad, and upon his family. And through him (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) grant us lawful, pure, blessed provision from You, by which You preserve our dignity so that we need not turn to anyone in Your creation. Pave for us, O Allāh, an easy way to it, without any temptations, without ordeal, without anyone holding a favor over us, and without any obligation or liability to anyone. O Allāh, and keep us away from the unlawful, wherever it may be and with whomever it may be. Place a barrier between us and those who deal in it, restrain their hands from us, and turn their faces and their hearts away from us, so that we move only within what pleases You and use Your blessings only in ways that You love and are pleased with — by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy.
O Allāh! If our provision is in the sky, send it down; if it is in the earth, extract it for us; if it is difficult (to obtain), make it easy for us (to obtain); if it is far away, bring it near to us; if (the acquisition thereof) is unlawful, purify it for us; if it is little, increase it; if it is non-existent, bring it into existence; if it is suspended, make it flow towards us; if it is tied to a sin, forgive it; if any wrong is attached to it, erase it; if there is an offence in it, overlook it; and if there is a stumbling block in its way, remove it. And all of this for us. Truly, You are the Owner of everything, the Creator of all power, and whatever You desire will be. O You Who, whenever You want something to be done, says: “Be,” and it is.
Glory be to your Lord; the Lord of Honour and Power Who is far above what they attribute to Him; And peace be on the Messengers; And praise be to Allāh, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds.
