O Allāh, I seek Your guidance (in making a choice) by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by Your power, and I ask You for Your immense bounty. You have power, and I have none. You know, and I do not. You are the Knower of hidden things.

O Allāh, if You know that this matter is good for my faith, my livelihood, and my ultimate outcome, now and in the future, then decree it for me, facilitate it for me, and bless it for me. But if You know that this matter is bad for my faith, my livelihood, and my ultimate outcome, now and in the future, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me good wherever it may be, and grant me contentment with it.

Specific and General Supplications of Istikhārah:

Every day after the Ishrāq (sunrise) and Ḍuḥā (early morning) prayers, four or two raka‛āt with the intention of seeking guidance (Istikhārah) should be performed. Then the supplicant says:

Praise be to Allāh, Lord of the Worlds. O Allāh! Send all blessings and peace at every moment, forever, on our master Muḥammad and upon his family, as numerous as Your blessings and favors.

O Allāh, I seek Your guidance (in making a choice) by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, and I have none. You know, and I do not. You are the Knower of hidden things.

O Allāh! Whatever among all matters and situations You know to be good for me, and my progeny, and our loved ones, and for all Muslims until the Day of Judgement, for our faith, our life in this world, our hereafter, our ultimate return, our livelihoods, and our ultimate outcomes, now and later, then decree it for us, facilitate it for us, and bless it for us.

O Allāh! Whatever among all matters and situations You know to be bad for our faith, our life in this world, our hereafter, our ultimate return, our livelihoods, and our ultimate outcomes, now and later, then turn them away from us and turn us away from them, and then decree for us good wherever it may be, and help us be content with it. O the Most Merciful of all who show mercy, O the Most Merciful of all who show mercy, O the Most Merciful of all who show mercy.

O Allāh! Truly, the knowledge of the Unseen belongs to You, and it is hidden from me, and I don't know what to choose for myself, so be the One who chooses for me, for I commit to You the management of my affairs, and I call on You in my need and helplessness, so guide me to those matters that are most beloved to You, most pleasing to You, and the most praiseworthy in outcome, along with goodness and well-being. Truly, You do whatever You will, and You have power over all things.

And may the blessings and peace of Allāh be upon our master Muḥammad, and upon his family and his companions, at every moment forever, to the number of His creation, to the extent of His pleasure, to the weight of His Throne, and the ink that it would take to write His Words.
